Day 4: Istanbul
We had a wonderful day full of traveling, shopping, and exploring. We started our day by going back to Altinbas University to listen to a professor of business and marketing speak about the current economy of Turkey. He talked about some of the similarities and differences between the United States and Turkey in terms of advertisements. He concluded his lesson with a discussion on whether sustainability can ever be achieved. Following this lecture, we made our way across Istanbul on a bus. After taking the bus we took a ferry to get to some islands called the Princess’ Islands.
This was a long ride on the ferry, but we had a good time talking and taking in the view. We stopped at one island before the biggest island to grab lunch. This was a great lunch where we got to try many different foods from spaghetti to hamburgers. Following lunch we split into groups and went to some shops around the island, and following this we headed back to the ferry.
We then went to the biggest of the islands called Büyükada which translates to be the big island. On this island, we walked around a bit and went to a bus station where we were dropped near the top of a tall mountain. We did have to walk a fair distance up the mountain, but we made it. At the top was a nice church with some great views and even a Café. We relaxed a bit at the top and after a little bit headed down the mountain. We took a little time to shop around the island where we got some good ice cream and some great deals on some souvenirs. At this point we had a day full of adventures, so we headed back to the ferry.
After we got off the ferry, we went on a bus to take us back to our hotel. After we got back to the hotel, we ordered some pizza and went back to our rooms to get ready for bed and to prepare for our next adventure, tomorrow!
